I’m a social entrepreneur and strategic consultant, as well as the cofounder and CEO of Lev Echad (One Heart) organization, the civil aid force in emergency situations.

When the alarms and news from the south started reaching us on October 7th, we immediately went into action. On that day, four Lev Echad situation rooms were already established, and by the end of that week there were already 18.

Our organization was prepared for this type of emergency, having operated for about two years in Ukraine and close to two decades in Israel. We learned up close what war is and how to act in emergency situations.

“Leadership is measured in times of crisis and Israeli society can emerge stronger and more resilient from this war.”

In response to the urgent needs following the events of October 7th, One Heart is implementing a multifaceted approach to rebuilding Israel: establishing community youth centers to address trauma and provide support for vulnerable youth, while also launching a recovery and support center to assist wounded soldiers and their families.

Additionally, the new One Heart Volunteers Community App will empower individuals to make a tangible impact in their communities by strengthening emergency preparedness across Israel. Its International Aid and Resilience Center is extending support globally, spreading hope and healing to those in need.

We believe that if every Israeli man and woman made a volunteering routine for themselves, from two hours a week to two hours a day, Israeli society would be stronger and it would be easier for us to win the war.

If the home front is weak, the soldiers will not be able to win on the frontline. Our role at this time is to build the Israeli home front, to build our resilience, in order to enable the soldiers to succeed in their task.

We are working to recruit, motivate and activate as many volunteers as possible. Our volunteers help tens of thousands of evacuees with an emphasis on building resilience and education, thousands of wounded, Gaza border area residents, farmers and much more.

Every crisis is an opportunity. Leadership is measured in times of crisis and Israeli society can emerge stronger and more resilient from this war, if we are wise enough to understand the challenges facing us and the importance of the existence of the State of Israel for years to come.

I am a fourth-year medical student at Ben-Gurion University, and have been the COO of Lev Echad (One Heart) for the past two years.

I perceive a profound link between the practice of medicine and the concept of tikkun olam, the Jewish principle of repairing the world. My endeavors are fueled by a strong belief in humanity, compassion and Zionism.”

Upon my initial arrival in Ukraine after the outbreak of conflict, I felt a sense of anticipation as the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor returning to the region after 80 years. Instead of viewing myself as a victim, I embraced the opportunity to serve as a helper and volunteer.

Our role now is more crucial than ever: to unite in resilience, to rebuild what has been lost, and to extend a hand of compassion to those affected by adversity. Together, we can embody the values of unity and empathy, serving as beacons of hope and resilience for one another and for the wider world,” she says.

“I hope to see Israel and the region flourish as bastions of stability and security.”

The greatest challenge I’ve faced, particularly after October 7th, has been spearheading the initiative to establish the first eye trauma unit in Ukraine amidst the backdrop of war in Israel. Navigating logistical hurdles, securing resources, and rallying support from stakeholders demanded resilience and adaptability.

However, fulfilling this commitment during such challenging times added an additional layer of significance to the endeavor. Amidst the chaos of conflict, the opportunity to provide crucial medical care and support to those affected by eye injuries became even more meaningful, reinforcing our dedication to making a tangible difference in the lives of others, even in the midst of adversity.

My hopes for the future in Israel and the region are deeply rooted in our commitment to internal unity, safety and peace. I envision a future where all members of our diverse society come together in harmony, embracing our shared values of tolerance and respect. With a focus on fostering mutual understanding and cooperation, I hope to see Israel and the region flourish as bastions of stability and security.
