Israel is home to some 130 startups and growth companies geared toward women, reported innovation and tech platform Start-Up Nation Central ahead of International Women’s Day.
The companies provide solutions across 10 verticals: breastfeeding, cosmetics, diagnostics, oncology and cancer support, pelvic health, reproductive and pregnancy, safety, sexual wellness, surgery and wellness.
According to Start-Up Nation Central, 90 of the 130 companies whose target audience is women are focused on health.
In the safety vertical, for example, companies include SafeUP, which developed an app that allows women to reach out to nearby guardians who can safely accompany them to their destination, while the diagnostics vertical includes Illumigyn, which created a remote-diagnosis cervical examination system that was recently deployed in Moldova, in the Gulf and across Africa.
These two companies, and dozens of others, were mapped out ahead of International Women’s Day celebrated on March 8 as part of a FemTech landscape mapping project carried out by Start-Up Nation Central in collaboration with FemTech Israel, an Israeli community promoting innovation and technological solutions for women’s needs.
“As part of our efforts to grow the Israeli ecosystem, mapping the different startups and showcasing the category helps investors and other parts of the ecosystem navigate their business and funnel more activity to the start-ups,” explained Lena Rogovin, Start-Up Nation Central’s Digital Health and Life Sciences Sector Lead.
In 2021, $160 million were invested in Israeli femtech companies, compared to $215 million in 2020 and $157 million in 2019, Start-Up Nation Central reported.
