The Israeli art world is abuzz with excitement as Fresh Paint, the country’s leading art and design fair, is just around the corner. The ninth installment of this much-loved happening is set for March 28-April 1, 2017, at the new Steinhardt Museum of Natural History, at Tel Aviv University.

Over 30,000 visitors are expected to come out to the Fresh Paint exhibit that includes works from the country’s main galleries and art institutions.

There will be local artworks on display, selected projects by galleries, video selections, product design installations and international works.

The Artists’ Greenhouse exhibit at the fair is one of the most popular displays. It comprises works by about 50 Israeli emerging artists and gives a true feel of contemporary art in Israel right now.

Sotheby’s auction house experts will also select one of these works from the independent artists’ exhibit to include in a Sotheby’s international and Israeli art December auction in New York.

The Fresh Paint Fair, which has been taking place in Tel Aviv-Yafo since 2008, can be viewed independently. However, art tours of the exhibit are also on hand but must be booked in advance.

The fair also hosts lectures and workshops centered around different themes of art and culture.

#Repost @shira_glezerman_art with @repostapp ・・・ Meet Carolina parakeet, formerly very common in the US. It used to be a very friendly bird, hunted by the thosands for its beautiful feathers, pet trade, protection of crops and just for fun. When a member of the flock was wounded or dead, the others gathered around it, making it extremely easy to hunt them. Incas, the last Carolina parakeet, died in 1918 at the Cincinnati Zoo in 1918, a few months after the death of Lady Jane, his mate. My new body of work is based on stories such as this. It is composed of black paper cuttings depicting various wildlife with one thing in common: all are extinct or critically endangered as a result of anthropogenic activities, or in other words: because of us. five works from this new series will be on show and for sale on @vitrina_art booth at @freshpaintartfair which will be held at the Museum of Natural history at Tel Aviv University. Opening on Tuesday, 28.3, between 17:00-22:00. Hope to see you there! In addition to the art and design works on display, this year’s event is also a debut for the building in which it is taking place. The Tel Aviv Museum of Natural History, which will house the university’s nature collection, is still under construction and inaugurating its premises with Fresh Paint.
