The Israeli art world is abuzz with excitement as Fresh Paint, the country’s leading art and design fair, is just around the corner. The ninth installment of this much-loved happening is set for March 28-April 1, 2017, at the new Steinhardt Museum of Natural History, at Tel Aviv University.

Over 30,000 visitors are expected to come out to the Fresh Paint exhibit that includes works from the country’s main galleries and art institutions.

There will be local artworks on display, selected projects by galleries, video selections, product design installations and international works.

The Artists’ Greenhouse exhibit at the fair is one of the most popular displays. It comprises works by about 50 Israeli emerging artists and gives a true feel of contemporary art in Israel right now.

Sotheby’s auction house experts will also select one of these works from the independent artists’ exhibit to include in a Sotheby’s international and Israeli art December auction in New York.

The Fresh Paint Fair, which has been taking place in Tel Aviv-Yafo since 2008, can be viewed independently. However, art tours of the exhibit are also on hand but must be booked in advance.

The fair also hosts lectures and workshops centered around different themes of art and culture.

In addition to the art and design works on display, this year’s event is also a debut for the building in which it is taking place. The Tel Aviv Museum of Natural History, which will house the university’s nature collection, is still under construction and inaugurating its premises with Fresh Paint.
