Summer is here and that means it’s time for the International Puppet Theater and Film Festival in Holon.
Kicking off July 21 and running through July 30, the festival includes the best of foreign and domestic puppetry for adults and children alike.
“The festival aspires to reveal the many colors of puppet theater as an accessible, quality art that combines a variation of other arts, such as additional stage arts and screen arts. We believe the festival’s objective is to portray the existing reality of the field, but also to lead and innovate. The festival promotes quality Israeli art by supporting original productions,” said Israeli puppeteer Ilan Savir.
International guests this year hail from the US, Denmark, Iceland and Taiwan.
Four Israeli shows will premiere at the happening: ‘Goose Petunia’ (Bubotaim Theater), ‘The Fisherman and the Golden Fish’ (Mathilda Studio/Puppet House Theater), ‘Plant Egg’ (US-Israeli coproduction) and ‘Moon’ (Sara Siboni).
The festival, which takes place at the Holon Puppet Theater Center, will also include new exhibitions at the puppet museum, outdoor performances, public workshops, professional workshops and professional classes for puppet makers.
