Nobody hyped Israel’s rhythmic gymnastics team — Moran Bozovski, Marina Schultz, Noa Palchi, Victoria Koshel, Polyana Zakolzani and Eliora Zolokovski – but the group of athletes shone brightly for Israel on the last day of the London Olympics 2012.
The gymnasts finished in eighth in the group all-around event, after giving two all-out performances.
“This is our natural place …. We’re not Russia and don’t have the same resources. We’re doing magic and don’t expect medals, just to improve our position,” Ra’anan Warshaviak, head of the Israeli gymnastics association, told Haaretz.
The gymnastics delegation did Israel proud. In the individual all-around finals yesterday, Neta Rivkin became the first Israeli to reach a gymnastics final. Rivkin will carry the national flag at the closing ceremony tonight.
