A new tandem cycling tour of Israel’s north promises would-be peddlers gorgeous scenery and the chance to meet his or her basherte (soul mate).

“I’m a bicycle guide and I’m always trying to come up with new tour ideas,” Tonny Bruun Madsen, owner of Adventure Tours & Equipment and the guy who came up with the new proposal, tells ISRAEL21c. “I’m working with a professional tour guide. People have told me that this could be a really good idea.”

The first tour Madsen is planning is aimed at the Jewish singles market. He hopes to take six men and six women on a seven-day tandem cycling tour from the city of Safed to Nazareth, passing through Capernaum, Ein Gev, Tiberias and Beit Shean.

After seven days of cycling as a team, Madsen says the participants will “get to know one another very well and will know if they are fit for each other for the rest of their lives.”

Madsen, who is originally from Denmark, hopes the matchmaking idea will catch on and already has plans to expand.

“Meeting your soul mate in the Holy Land would be good for Christians, too,” he says.
