Israeli thermal energy storage startup Brenmiller Energy became the first Israeli company to win a World CleanTech Award from the CleanTech Business Club, a group of industry, government, investment and thought leaders from 36 countries who work to increase investments in clean and green energies throughout the world.

Chairman and CEO Avi Brenmiller accepted the club’s outstanding startup award at its meeting in Abu Dhabi on January 16.

The system receives energy from various energy sources, converts it into heat energy and stores it in crushed rock, enabling a continuous supply according to changing needs throughout the day regardless of weather conditions, with zero CO2 emissions.

Just two months ago, Brenmiller Energy began operating its largest thermal energy storage project in the Tuscany region of Italy in cooperation with ENEL, the largest European electricity company.

In addition, the company has projects in the United States, Romania and Brazil.
