Wix.com, the Israeli company that democratized website building with a cloud-based, drag-and-drop solution boasting more than 250 million users across the world, has launched the Wix Capital Accelerator Program to jumpstart Israel-based pre-seed and seed-stage companies.
Coming at a time when early-stage startups are having difficulty gaining traction, the accelerator will focus on startups operating in core strategic fields of interest to Wix, such as new business solutions for small-to-medium businesses, providing better experiences for site visitors on services such as ecommerce, bookings, restaurants, hotels, and innovating AI, deep learning and large language model (LLM)-based solutions.
Startups selected for the Wix Accelerator Program will get advisory and mentorship support in product, business development and financing from Wix with relevant domain expertise to guide them and provide insights, the company announced. Each portfolio company will receive state-of-the-art office space at Wix headquarters in Tel Aviv.
Wix, founded in 2016, also has offices in Brazil, Canada, Germany, India, Ireland, Japan, Lithuania, the United Kingdom, the United States, Ukraine and Singapore.
“With the launch of the Wix Accelerator Program, we are unlocking new levels of growth for Wix, our users, and the companies involved,” said Lior Shemesh, CFO of Wix.
“In the last several years, Wix has gone from a small startup to a multibillion-dollar business, but we haven’t forgotten where we started, which is why we are excited to facilitate an accelerator program. We are confident that these investments will deliver new tech innovations that allow these companies to flourish and in turn, benefit our business and our users as well. We look forward to kicking off this new endeavor and cultivating the next generation of technology leaders in Israel.”
Launched in 2019, Wix Capital is a fund investor in startups sharing Wix’s technology, innovation, and development mindset. The Wix Accelerator Program will expand on this mission to grow and cultivate companies that offer synergy with Wix’s growth strategy, according to the company.
