“People always ask me what I’m thinking about in the middle of a concert where thousands of people are in front of me, singing my songs,” Israeli star Idan Raichel told the audience at a May 4 outdoor concert celebrating the renovation of Ramat Gan’s Rambam Square.
“The truth is,” Raichel admitted, “that from the beginning of the performance I’ve been looking at the Super-Pharm branch [across the square] right in front of my eyes and it’s reminding me that my wife requested that I bring home size 5 diapers and I forgot.”
This folksy admission by the famous father of four – nine- and seven-year-old girls and two-year-old twin boys – led to quite a surprise.

Ramat Gan Mayor Carmel Shama Hacohen immediately sent an aide to purchase a pack of diapers before the Super-Pharm store closed.
He then brought the package up on stage and presented it to Raichel in the midst of the concert, to the delight of the singer, his accompanying musicians, and the audience.
Two concertgoers had a similar idea and also ran over to buy size 5 diapers, presenting them to Raichel after the concert.

Raichel later uploaded a picture of the three diaper packages on his Instagram with the comment: “Only those who were in Ramat Gan yesterday will understand.”
