US retail electronics chain Best Buy announced a new partnership with Herzliya-based TytoCare to offer the Israeli company’s all-in-one digital diagnostics kit at Best Buy stores in California, the Dakotas, Ohio and Minnesota and through the Best Buy website. People can also use the TytoHome device with LiveHealth Online’s consultation service.

The $299 handheld TytoHome examination device has attachments that act as a thermometer, a stethoscope, an otoscope (the device that looks in your ears) and a tongue depressor. The home device is intended to reduce the cost of checkups by enabling remote monitoring by doctors. Tyto previously sold its technology through healthcare plans.

TytoHome includes a camera so that physicians can guide remote patients on where to position the device to get the most accurate readings. Patients can send results to their doctors 24/7.

TytoCare says its device is ideal for diagnosing ear infections, colds, sore throat, fever, cough, congestion and rashes without unnecessarily exposing patients to the germs of a hospital or doctor’s waiting room.

Tyto is also partnering with regional healthcare systems including Sanford Health, which operates in Minnesota and North and South Dakota, and is an investor in TytoCare.

“We’re excited to partner with Best Buy, LiveHealth Online, American Well and regional health systems to extend our on-demand tele-health platform across the US, enhancing primary care delivery,” said Dedi Gilad, chief executive and cofounder of TytoCare.

Founded in 2011, TytoCare has raised a total of $56.7 million. Other investors include the Tokyo-based Itochu Corp, Chinese venture firm Shenzhen Capital Group, China’s largest insurer Ping An Insurance Group, LionBird, Fosun Group, Orbimed and American pharmacy chain Walgreens.
