Five contestants on the Italian version of the popular The Apprentice television show were in Israel recently to film a special episode in Jerusalem. The Tourism Ministry hosted the crew and sent them on a tour of the country’s top landmarks.

“Jerusalem offers a ready-made backdrop for the filming – a combination of stunning beauty, sites that are holy to three religions and wrapped in history, alongside a modern lifestyle – that makes the city an ideal location for the contestants’ tasks,” said Tourism Minister Dr. Uzi Landau.

Contestants visited the Knesset, the Israel Museum and the Old City. The 45-minute program will be broadcast on the Sky Italia network.

The Italian reality show is based on the 2004 American version that was produced by real estate billionaire Donald Trump. Israel’s version of the series was dubbed The Ambassador and was won by Eytan Schwartz, today a senior adviser for international affairs for the Mayor of Tel Aviv.

Landau wished the contestants luck and said he hoped they would return to Israel after the show wraps up: “We look forward to cooperation with the contestants in the future, when they come to do business here in Israel.”
