Socializr, a social network based on sharing events with friends, won the Tel Aviv title of this year’s PayPal Battle Hack series. The Israeli coders will next compete against other city champions at the World Finals BattleHack in San Jose on November 14-16, for a chance to win $100,000.
PayPal, a global leader in mobile payments, kicked off the second-annual hackathon in Tel Aviv because organizers loved the innovative vibe the Israeli non-stop city offers.
The 24-hour hackathons will also take place in Chicago, Warsaw, Boston, Moscow, Berlin, Toronto, San Francisco, Istanbul, Miami and lastly, in London.
Winners from each city are flown to the final contest where they square off for the prize money and a Viking battle ax.
Last year’s inaugural event drew over 2,000 competitors.
