Airwayz was featured as part of the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations delegation and presented highlights of its achievements in drone technology at the Sustainable Technology and Innovation Forum at the United Nations headquarters on May 3.

Airwayz, based in Tel Aviv, is a provider of AI-based advanced management systems for UTM (Unmanned Traffic Management) and drone fleets.

Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations, Gilad Erdan introduced Airwayz to the forum and discussed the accomplishments of the Israel National Drone Initiative in developing a UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) ecosystem, in which Airwayz plays a pivotal role.

The “Sky of Tomorrow” event featured presentations from various UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) and drone companies followed by question and answer sessions led by a panel of industry experts. The focus of the presentation was on how UAVs are revolutionizing airspace and improving efficiency in areas as diverse as healthcare and commercial deliveries.

The role of drone technology and UTM in environmental sustainability was also a key topic at the event. The panel discussed the contribution companies such as Airwayz can make in reducing carbon emissions and saving lives in emergency situations.

As reported by i24, Ambassador Gilad Erdan commented, “At a time when Iran is sending drones to kill innocent civilians in Ukraine, the State of Israel is promoting the use of drones for public purposes. Israel is a powerhouse in technology and innovation and we are happy to share our knowledge with the world.”

Airwayz CEO, Eyal Zor added, “Facilitating knowledge exchanges is core to Airwayz and we are thrilled that we got this opportunity to share our expertise on such a high-level platform. INDI was a significantly ground-breaking scheme for the drone industry, and Airwayz is excited to continue with our progress in the second phase, dubbed INDI2!”

INDI or the Israeli Drone Initiative is a partnership between the Innovation Authority, Ayalon Highways, and the Civil Aviation Authority with the aim of implementing airspace technologies to facilitate drone deliveries for a wide range of uses, from swiftly transporting emergency supplies to delivering merchandise to customers.

Rami Navarro, Managing Director of Built-Up Ventures also attended the UN Event and commented, “We are Proud of our portfolio company for achieving this milestone and presenting as part of the Permanent Mission of Israel to the United Nations.”
