A white-throated kingfisher rests on a branch in the Jezreel Valley in Northern Israel.
The bird is a fairly common resident of north and central Israel and loves the open country, wetlands, fish ponds and farm lands.
Israel is one of the best locations worldwide for bird spotting, with some 535 species either living in the country, or flying through it on the biannual migration.
This week’s photograph of the week is by Haim Shohat/Flash90.
If you’ve got a photograph you’d like to feature on ISRAEL21c please send it in high resolution to info@israel21c.org. Every week we will choose the best one to feature on our pages.
