Here’s an innovative new twist on combining work-related skills development and a leisure vacation.

It’s a partnership between Selina Hostels – Israeli-founded coworking and accommodation spaces geared to Gen X “digital nomads” traveling in South and Central America – and Tel Aviv-based Elevation Academy.

At the Israeli EdTech Summit earlier this year, Selina and Elevation Academy announced a 12-week Coding Bootcamp beginning this January at three of Selina’s Mexican locations, starting at Mexico City, moving to Puerto Escondido and finishing in Playa del Carmen.

Students will enjoy site-specific activities like yoga classes and surfing during their down time from learning front-end and backend development, building custom APIs, attending soft skills sessions and hackathons, and coding projects from scratch.

And that’s just the beginning.

The two enterprises also are launching a weeklong digital marketing accelerator at one of Selina’s hottest locations (Bocas del Toro, Panama) plus five-hour daily workshops for guests at all Selina locations on in-demand soft skills such as advertising in leading channels and building a successful email marketing strategy.

The courses and workshops will be taught by personnel from Elevation Academy, which offers focused tech courses at its campus in WeWork Hazerem, Tel Aviv.

Founded in 2015, Selina recently opened a Tel Aviv development center and secured $95 million in Series B funding to support expansion in North America and Europe. One of the investors is WeWork cofounder and CEO Adam Neumann, who’s also Israeli by birth.
