Jul. 09 –  Jewish Life Television (JLTV) plans to broadcast the 18th Maccabiah Games from July 12-23 as part of its special sports programming. This marks the first broadcast of the games to audiences outside of Israel. The channel’s coverage of the games will be anchored by Olympic gold medalist Mitch Gaylord, the first American gymnast to score a perfect 10. The Maccabiah Games are known as the Jewish Olympics, and are held every four years in Israel. This year, more than 8,000 athletes took part from over 50 countries, making it the world’s third largest sporting event. On July 12 JLTV will become the world’s first 24-hour Jewish-themed television channel when it expands globally to over 100 million homes on July 12th, adding Hot Bird satellite coverage across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East to its American distribution.
