Israel’s Magink joins with Japanese company to create world’s first digital brickIsraeli company Magink, a specialist in full-color reflective digital ink technology, has partnered with Japanese company, Denpeki Kaihatsu, to develop SmartBricks, a revolutionary digital brick for the construction industry. The bricks use Magink?s reflective technology to allow the construction of exterior and interior walls that can digitally change color and texture. According to the company SmartBricks give consumers the ability to constantly change the appearance of their homes and offices to suit their needs, dramatically altering the urban experience and potentially revolutionizing building design ? both indoors and out. The digital bricks reflect ambient sunlight, creating a high performance, low power digital wall that doesn’t intrude on your surroundings.
Denpeki is working with Shimizu, a leading general construction company in Japan, to test and demonstrate prototype SmartBricks. The group plans to release the SmartBricks product, which uses minimal electricity, at the end of the year. Magink, which is based in Mevasseret Zion, was founded in 2000. It was the first company in the world to develop full color reflective digital ink technology and provides solutions for a broad array of global industries from outdoor advertising, to promotional displays and architecture.
