Israel’s Young Cadets National Baseball Team took the gold at the recent Tuscany Series Tournament in Italy. The Israeli team finished the tournament with a 4:1:1 record.

Not known as a baseball nation, the Israelis nonetheless showed their pitching prowess, their ability to steal bases, and their hitting power.

This was the first time an Israeli cadet team won the tournament.

Italy’s Nettuno team were the favorites of the tournament, and held an undefeated record coming into the championships.

The Israeli team’s first eight players in the line-up had an on-base percentage of over .444 throughout the tournament.

The Israel Association of Baseball was started in December 1986 as a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and developing baseball in Israel.
