Giving a boost to the electric vehicle revolution, the Israeli company Zooz Power is starting sales of its unique flywheel-based kinetic storage technology and will soon establish five ultra-fast charging stations at commercial, leisure and business sites in Germany.
The ZOOZTER-100 flywheels each weigh about half a ton and rotate 17,000 revolutions per minute, enabling 15-minute charging of electric vehicles even in locations with limited electricity infrastructure.
By optimizing energy consumption from the existing power grid, the Zooz no-battery solution is green, reliable and economical.
“We are in the advanced stages of the product’s licensing processes according to European standards, and with the completion of the tests we intend to deliver the first systems this year,” said Boaz Weiser, CEO of the Lod-based company.
“The agreements in Germany for the establishment of ultra-fast charging facilities based on our new product are of great importance to us, both as a first penetration with the unique product into the European market and also in terms of recognition of the advanced technology we have developed,” he said.
“The installation of our systems in the field will prove the uniqueness of our solution and its ability to provide an economic, sustainable, reliable and safe solution to a problem that is getting worse and worse – difficulty in establishing an ultra-fast charging infrastructure due to the power limitations of the electricity network.”
Zooz Power also is planning ultra-fast charging stations in Israel as well, with the support of the Israel Innovation Authority and Ministry of Energy, in cooperation with Afcon Transport and Dor-Alon.
