Nazareth, in the Galilee area of Israel, is traditionally known as the childhood home of Jesus. After eight years of planning, the largest Israeli Arab city in the country, with a significant Christian population, is about to become the site of the newest industrial park, funded by billionaire industrialist Stef Wertheimer.

Known as one of Israel’s most socially aware businessmen, Wertheimer’s deceptively simple recipe for peace is: “Be nice to your neighbors and help them to be successful. If you help them to be successful, you have peace.”

Omer Industrial Park

Omer industrial park built by industrialist Stef Wertheimer, who is now developing a new industrial park in Nazareth.

Nazareth’s industrial park will house local businesses, as well as provide technical education to area youth, in line with Wertheimer’s model of combining business stimulation with technical education and balancing the academic and the practical. His advice to young people searching for their career path is not to look for a job, but to find what they like to do, and then do it and respect it.

At the groundbreaking celebration held at Nazareth’s Golden Crown Hotel, project director Shawki Khatib, who is also the head of the National Committee of Arab Mayors said, “The direct meeting between the Jewish and Arab populations can be both an engine and the right infrastructure to create a new future for both Jews and Arabs in the country.
