Join ISRAEL21c Associate Editor Abigail Klein Leichman on September 21 for a remarkable online discussion about green and sustainable technologies developed in Israel, sponsored by Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America.

Leichman will introduce two leaders ISRAEL21c knows well: impact investor Yosef “Kaptain Sunshine” Abramowitz, CEO and president of Energiya Global, which brings affordable Israeli renewable energy projects to the rest of the world and especially to emerging markets; and Viktoria Kanar of Re-Fresh Global, which repurposes textile waste as raw manufacturing materials.

“Yosef and Viktoria will speak to their special brands of environmentalism, the ways that we can all give back to help defend and preserve the Earth, and Hadassah’s contribution to their work,” says Cheryl Sperber, chair of Zionist Education in Hadassah’s Education & Advocacy Division.

Abramowitz, who formerly cofounded Israeli solar energy company Arava Power, has been nominated by 12 African countries for the Nobel Peace Prize for pioneering solar power in the Middle East and Africa.

He was named by CNN as one of the planet’s six leading Green Pioneers in 2012 and served on the Israeli negotiating team at the Paris Climate Conference in 2015.

Kanar has managed international PR campaigns and major fashion events in Israel and abroad, combining her experience for a new circular economy in textiles.

As a fashion producer and entrepreneur, she brings together experts and innovators from around the world to develop new initiatives that will have a long-term impact on how we recycle textiles.

Register here for the half-hour Zoom presentation live on September 21 at 1pm Eastern Daylight Time, or here for a repeat viewing at 7pm EDT if you cannot attend live.
