If you haven’t yet heard of the “Internet of Food” or “food-tech,” chew on this: The food and beverage industry is turning to innovative technologies for healthier products, sustainable produce, farming analytics, connected delivery and natural ways to extend shelf life.

Food- and beverage-related startups attracted $1.1 billion in venture capital worldwide in the first half of 2014, and Israeli companies account for a piece of this rich pie.

Amir Zaidman of the Food Tech Hub, Yuval Klein of Valiber and David Kliger of ProtyPlus joined ISRAEL21c in the TLV1 radio studio to talk about a wearable device that measures the bites you take, a swizzle stick that monitors sweetness and a new kind of protein snack.
