Hundreds of thousands of Israelis are now internal refugees, evacuated from their homes on the Gaza and Lebanon borders. And hundreds of thousands of small businesses serving tourists in these areas have lost their income.

A heartwarming new project seeks to bring relief to both populations, and more.

Western Galilee Now’s Support Package initiative enables people to send gift boxes to evacuees, soldiers or any loved one in Israel, filled with premium products sold by businesses of the Galilee and the Negev.

The boxes, available in four different sizes and with an option for kosher-only products, contain goodies such as boutique chocolate, high-end coffee, homemade cookies and granola, soaps, herbal teas, arts and crafts, and more.

The boxes intended for soldiers also contain neck warmers, thermal socks and woolen hats.

Within a few days of the Support Package website going live in Hebrew and English, 150 packages were ordered from Israel and around the world.

The gift boxes can be addressed to specific individuals or to an anonymous evacuated family. A personal note may be included from the giver.

The project, supported by JNF-USA and its Lauder Employment Center that brings jobs to the Negev and Galilee, offers free shipping within seven days — barring unforeseen circumstances related to the war, of course.

“These healthy and comforting items can be purchased and sent to soldiers on active duty, families who have been displaced from their homes, or to your loved ones who are simply suffering and traumatized by these recent events,” said Michal Shiloah Galnoor, CEO of Western Galilee Now.

“The Gift Box project helps on two levels: it supports small businesses from the areas affected by the fighting, and also provides pampering packages to people who need it most at the moment.”
