Travelier, an Israeli travel-tech company digitizing land and sea transportation, has fully acquired Brazilian online bus ticket platform DeÔnibus.

The bus travel market in Brazil is one of the largest in the world, generating more than $2 billion in annual revenue. Yet only 30 percent of bus tickets in Brazil are purchased through online channels.

This untapped potential fuels Travelier’s vision to capture a dominant market share in Latin America. The Ramat Gan-based company’s network of digital platforms allows customers to buy intercity tickets to ferries, buses and trains in local markets instantly.

Two years ago, Travelier invested in Plataforma10, Argentina’s leading online transportation brand.

“We have looked into the Brazilian market for quite some time, evaluating the landscape, the players and the potential. DeÔnibus has great foundations, a cultural fit to the Travelier group alongside scaling potential. I’m confident in our new journey together,” said Noam Toister, cofounder and CEO of Travelier.

Siblings Breno Moraes and Mariana Malveira founded DeÔnibus in 2012 as “Brazil by Bus.” DeÔnibus has a network of 300-plus operators connected to more than 36,000 routes, offering 80 percent geographical coverage in Brazil and serving millions of travelers annually.

“The bus travel market in Brazil has been going through changes in recent years, influenced by travelers’ new purchasing habits, digitalization and modernization of the sector, and regulatory changes. Internet sales penetration has been growing fast year after year and is expected to exceed 50% of total sales in the next two to three years,” said Moraes, who will continue to lead the company.

Travelier’s current portfolio encompasses five B2C brands and two transportation management system brands spanning Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa.

The company launched a centralized hub in 2023 enabling a seamless booking experience across all subsidiaries and partners.
