The spring 2018 Cool Vendors list released by the US-based Gartner research and advisory firm included 256 startups. Thirty Israeli companies captured spots, second only to the United States at 133 and ahead of the UK (20) and China (10).

Chief Gartner Fellow Daryl Plummer explained the criteria used for choosing Cool Vendors:

“Artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and digital disruption continue to be the focus of innovative companies in 2018. Cool Vendors are no different than these companies, but they must contend with the fact that everyone is benefiting from riding the same horse. As secondary effects grow due to disruptions from key trends, vendors must solve practical problems to separate from the crowd and emerge as the unicorn solution provider.”

Cool Vendors are grouped by sector. In the cybersecurity sector of the 2018 list, 13 Israeli startups are listed: Cymulate, Snyk, Luminate Security, Alcide, BigID (which raised $30 million last month), InnoSec, Demisto, Logz.io, Diskin Advanced Technologies, Siga, GuardiCore, CyberWrite and D-ID.

In the Digital Commerce/AI/Retail category, five Israeli startups are listed (Syte.ai, Twiggle, Namogoo, Pepperi and Unbotify) and four in the IoT and Enterprise category (Vayyar, Neura, Sedona Systems and Presenso).

Otonomo, Phantom Auto, Moovit and Karamba are listed in the Automotive/Mobility category.

Also on the spring 2018 list are Amenity Analytics, Augury, 3DSignals and Techsee.
