Dear Reader, At ISRAEL21c, we are routinely faced with a challenge. There are so many remarkable stories to cover here in Israel, sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin. We recognize that the same is true for our readers. The array and variety of content can, at times, feel overwhelming. That is why it is with great excitement that we present to you The Friday Read. Each week we will feature one thought-provoking and inspirational story, along with commentary on why we believe it is significant and worth your time. It is our intention to lead you into the weekend with something that sparks discussion among you and your community. We hope that you enjoy this series—and don’t hesitate to reach out with your thoughts. This week we kick off with an article about the changing face of the medical aesthetics industry. Israel has long been a leader of innovation in this field, and now as millennials, Gen Zs, and a growing Asian customer base become increasingly interested in treatments, they are pushing the industry in new and significant directions. There are many interesting take aways from this article, but for me perhaps the most compelling of all was what the changes say about different generations. While baby boomers are looking for rejuvenation treatments, younger generations start looking for prejuvenation treatments as soon as the first fine lines appear. In China, for instance, treatments like this are seen as essential for career success. Millennials also have less tolerance to pain than boomers – so developers must take this into account as they improve devices. Another important development is that after focusing almost exclusively on how therapies affect white skin, the industry is finally beginning to pay attention to improving treatments for different skin colors. It’s a fascinating read that – between the lines – says a great deal about our changing world. Enjoy! Warm regards, Nicky Blackburn Follow Nicky on LinkedIn |
