Here’s two interesting facts you may not know: there are cowboys in Israel, and they’re being bombarded with missiles. From their hats to their herds to their horses, the cowboys of the Golan Heights are about as close to the rootin’ tootin’ cattle herders of the Wild West as you can get in the modern age (though they probably eat more Mediterranean food, if I had to guess). But as tensions continue to boil along Israel’s northern border, the cowboys’ calm, quiet livelihoods — and their lives — are at risk, as they continue to care for their cows under fire from rockets launched by Hezbollah.
