In the week we’ve just experienced in Israel, with its focus on retaliation and reprisals, it’s easy for stories about technology or health to get a little lost. But our story about Gary the robot definitely deserves attention, whatever the geopolitical situation. Gary was developed by Unlimited Robotics and helps provide support services in hospitals. He can chat to patients, sanitize rooms or beds, translate, record and take meeting notes, and by next year, he’ll be cleaning toilets too. He’s already in use at two Israeli hospitals, and at a hospital in Philadelphia. In an industry hit hard by recruitment problems, Gary could be just what the doctor ordered. Nicky Blackburn |
