Can staging large-scale tech events in times of war help Israel’s ecosystem evolve further? It may seem like an odd choice to put on a big tech conference in Tel Aviv, when Israel has been at war for the past nine months. But, the organizers of such events in the country in recent months say they felt compelled to do it because of the near-existential security challenges Israel has been facing since the October 7 attacks. At least that’s what one visitor found out when he made the trip from the United States earlier this summer. Visiting these conferences and events, he discovered a small community of extremely dedicated people who work tirelessly in order to uplift Israel’s tech ecosystem, and take it one step further from the rest of the world. More importantly, however, he found out that security hurdles are set to be the catapult for a spurt of AI-based innovation in the country in the coming years. Yulia Karra |
