Who says Israel can’t excel at winter sports? US-Israeli bobsled athletes Jared Firestone and AJ Edelman are not going to let a little thing like a hot Middle Eastern climate or a lack of funding, get in the way of their dream to triple the number of Israeli athletes at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Together, they have set up a non-profit that gives out grants to exceptional Israeli athletes, whatever their religion. And they are determined to make it work. It’s one of those stories I love, about people taking on an impossible task in a seemingly impossible field, and – hopefully – succeeding. Nicky Blackburn |
