Wonder Woman is the best superhero movie of all time, according to influential US online review site, Rotten Tomatoes.

The film, which stars Israeli actor Gal Gadot, has moved to top position on Rotten Tomatoes’ list of the 50 best superhero movies of all time.

Directed by Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman opened to rave reviews on June 2 year and proceeded to break box office record after record, including the highest-grossing film directed by a woman, the highest-grossing superhero origin film in the US and worldwide, and the largest opening for a female-led comic book film.

The film, which cost $149 million to make, grossed over $821 million worldwide, making it the seventh highest grossing film of 2017.

The movie beat out films like The Dark Knight and The Avengers, scoring 108.567% on the Rotten Tomatoes list, which compiles movie reviews from amateur critics and professional critics to come up with a score.

Next on the list was Logan, followed by The Dark Knight, and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

In a Tweet following the announcement, Gal Gadot said: “This is incredible!!! So grateful for working w/ such amazing ppl & for your amazing reviews.”

Gadot is to appear in a sequel, Wonder Woman 2, which is due to be released on December 13, 2019. She will also star in related films such as Justice League, Justice League 2 and Flashpoint over the course of the next few years.
