EduCann, a pioneering online cannabis course for doctors, nurses, pharmacists and medical professionals across the globe, is launching under the auspices of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Multidisciplinary Center for Cannabinoid Research (MCCR).

Prof. Yossi Tam from the MCCR will teach about cannabinoid research, treatments and practices along with Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Center’s Prof. Elyad Davidson and Dr. Yakir Rottenberg.

As an increasing number of countries legalize the use of medical cannabis, Harvard University discovered that although patients want to learn about the potential of this natural product, many healthcare providers are overly dismissive of the treatment opportunities because of a lack of knowledge.

The virtual medicinal cannabis series aims to educate healthcare professionals about the therapeutic role of medicinal cannabis in, for example, easing chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting, treating chronic pain and treating adults with multiple sclerosis (MS)-related spasticity.

Developed by MCCR in cooperation with the university’s Yissum tech-transfer company, the 13-segment virtual course will be distributed in English and Spanish.

The curriculum covers the medical history of cannabis, treatments, drug safety, research breakthroughs, medicinal uses and practices.
