Sail Tel Aviv-Jaffa, Israel’s biggest water sport festival, returns to Tel Aviv-Jaffa for the third time this year on the weekend of September 21-22.
Activities open to the public will include SUP (standup paddleboard) yoga, kayaking, surfing and windsurfing at Hilton Beach; SUP surfing, dancing and sail boating at Gordon Beach; diving and snorkeling tours accompanied by certified instructors at Aliyah-Hill Beach, birdwatching tours at Tzuk (Cliff) Beach, kite flying at Charles Clore Park and more.
At the Tel Aviv Port, noted collage caricaturist Hanoch Piven will lead marine-waste craft workshops. There will be tours of the marine research ship MED EX and family bicycle tours setting out from Tel Aviv Port to Jaffa Port.
The Tel Aviv Marina will offer a tour of a restored ancient trade ship and the chance to experience sailing on small boats and yachts.
As in past years, the festival will include a flotilla of about 200 sailing vessels, departing from the north side at 11am on Saturday, passing through the city’s coastline within three hours.
Sailors and athletes will be competing in a variety of competitions and tournaments: swimming and SUP surfing at Gordon Beach, kite surfing at Tel-Baruch Beach, kayaking at Hilton Beach, sail boating at the marina, diving at Aliyah-Hill Beach, volleyball at Frishman and Gordon beaches and Frisbee at Geula Beach.
The festival will also offer excursions, workshops, lectures, attractions along the coast and much more. DJs will play music along the coastline.
The same weekend, Tel Aviv-Jaffa is hosting the 11th annual Open House Tel Aviv (Houses from Within) program of unique tours of some of the most intriguing houses and buildings around the city, some of which have never been opened to the public before. Click here to see the list of free tours.
