With heavy snow expected to start falling today in northern Israel as well as in greater Jerusalem, the Jerusalem resident shown in this photo by FLASH90’s Hadas Parush is heeding the Home Front Command’s directive to stock up on emergency flashlights and batteries, water, dry goods, warm clothes and snow shovels.

The capital city has opened a “situation room”, readied 150 snowplows and prepared to close highways leading to Jerusalem so drivers won’t get stuck in drifts as happened during 2013’s massive snowstorm. The US Embassy issued a travelers’ warning to “consider deferring any non-essential travel to impacted areas” due to “road closures and perilous driving conditions.”

Many city residents, especially kids, are focused instead on the fun to come.
