The 10th annual Local Testimony photojournalism exhibition will open on December 10, 2013, at the Eretz Israel Museum, Tel Aviv. As in every year, the exhibition features works that bear witness to the events of the past year: war and peace, politics and society, art and culture, nature and the environment, sports, portraits, multimedia presentations, and more.

The year’s best documentary and press photos from Israel and the Palestinian Authority are chosen by an independent jury out of thousands of entries submitted for competition by professional photographers working in the area.

The competition is open to accredited Israeli, Palestinian and foreign photojournalists, documentary photographers and professional artists, who have worked in Israel for at least three years.

The local competition and exhibition was first launched in 2003. It has since drawn thousands of visitors each year, as well as hundreds of thousands of entries in the Local Testimony website. In 2008, together with the Peres Center for Peace, the organization initiated the Frames of Reality project, a seminar and workshop advocating thought and personal criticism among professional Israeli and Palestinian photojournalists.

Images by some 50 photographers were chosen for 2013 Local Testimony. The list includes Dan Haimovich, (whose photos have been featured in Israel21c), whose work was selected in the Portrait category…

Jorge Novominsky in the Sports category…

Uriel Sinai in the News category…

Noam Moskowitz in the Daily Life category…

Oren Ziv, also in the Daily Life category…

Local Testimony runs concurrent to the annual World Press Photo exhibition which features work by international press photographers.

This year, in celebration of a decade of activity, notable photographs from previous Local Testimony exhibits will also be presented, and special events will take place.
