Jerusalem opens its public parks, city infrastructure and private houses this weekend for the annual Houses From Within happening.
Free tours of the city’s private spaces – designer lofts, urban villas, unique synagogues, architecturally significant public buildings, construction sites, plazas and gardens – runs Oct. 25-27.
Inspired by OpenHouse events in Europe and North America, Houses From Within invites Jerusalem lovers to join free tours of its amazing structures.
Highlights on this year’s list include: A chance to visit the excavation site where the train tunnel to Jerusalem is being dug using tunnel boring equipment; Eco House in Ein Kerem — visit a small residential unit that underwent ecological renovation; and an inside view of the Institute of Archeology on Mount Scopus, which houses the Hebrew University`s archaeological collection.
The behind-the-scenes peek at other people’s houses has become a hit across the globe. Earlier this year, Tel Aviv hosted its own Houses From Within event as well.
