Six Israeli high school students brought home medals from the 60th International Mathematical Olympiad, this year held at the University of Bath, in the UK.

Ido Karshon from Nataf won a gold medal; Lior Hadassi (Hod Hasharon), Shvo Regavim (Kfar Saba) and Roee Sinai (Kfar Oranim) each won silver medals; and Shahar Friedman (Rehovot) and Itay Yehuda (Ganei Tikva) won bronze medals. Overall, the Israelis finished in 15th place out of 112 competing countries.

The Israeli competitors are all members of the Future Scientists Center, a program for gifted students supported by the Education Ministry and National Cyber Bureau of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Only the week before, Israel won two gold, two silver, and one bronze at the 50th International Physics Olympiad, held for the first time in Tel Aviv.
