You know that feeling when you come to the end of a nature hike and marring your view is litter strewn on the ground? Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael-Jewish National Fund (KKL-JNF) is leading Israel’s activities for International Clean Up Day 2013 so that won’t happen next time you’re out in nature.

On September 9, some 200,000 volunteers are expected to take part in Clean Up Day in Israel. Regional and local councils, government bodies and schools are will head out to the country’s forests and open spaces with garbage bags and rubber gloves.

KKL-JNF will also run educational activities throughout the country.

The environmentally friendly day is a worldwide project of the Clean Up the World organization, which was founded in Australia in 1993.
