Magen David Adom this week hosted doctors, nurses, paramedics and EMTs from around the globe at a conference focusing on mass medical emergencies.
“This is not the first time we have held this type of conference and we continue to recognize the importance of spreading our knowledge in responding to emergencies. In light of the rise in mass casualty incidents throughout the world, it is crucial that Israel shares its experience with other EMS organizations. Being knowledgeable on how to properly respond in multi casualty incidents can mark the difference between life and death,” said Eli Bin, MDA Director General.
Participants from the US, Italy, the UK, India and Canada attended seminars by some of Israel’s most experienced emergency medicine professionals. Participants also toured MDA stations and played an active role in a multi-casualty incident exercise simulating a bus explosion, while implementing knowledge they had acquired throughout the week.
MDA says it regularly exchanges knowledge and skills with similar organizations around the world.
“MDA sees great importance in spreading the knowledge it possesses in handling mass casualty incidents. Looking back on the past week, I can confidently say that our participants see great value in the abilities they’ve developed, and I am positive that these will greatly assist them in their day-to-day work,” said Chief Community Officer, Dr. Eli Yaffe.
