Office of the Chief Scientist is founded

• The Office of the Chief Scientist is founded, with the goal of increasing economic empowerment within the civilian sector of the Israeli economy and helping to spur Israel’s technological prowess for the decades to come. In 2016, the Office of the Chief Scientist was rebranded as the Israel Innovation Authority. Its role is to nurture and develop Israeli innovation resources, while creating and strengthening the infrastructure and framework needed to support the entire knowledge industry.
