There’s no art to eating popcorn, but an Israeli design team would nonetheless like to see people snack with a smile on their faces. Idan Noyberg and Gal Bulka, of the Noyberg & Bulka studio in Herzliya, are now promoting their SHEEPOPCO popcorn bowls on a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.

SHEEPOPCO looks like half a sheep, cut horizontally. Fill the bowl up with popcorn, and you’ve got yourself the cutest, tastiest sheep.

“Popcorn is one of the healthiest snacks in the world,” Noyberg, 32, tells ISRAEL21c. “We hope children and adults will consume more popcorn using our bowls.”

It’s also one of the world’s most popular snacks. In the US, Americans eat 4.3 billion gallons of popcorn a year. So a popcorn holder seems like a much-needed idea.

The SHEEPOPCO bowls come as a pair. One microwavable bag of popcorn will fill both.

Time Out Magazine in Israel recently tapped Noyberg and Bulka, graduates of the prestigious Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem, among 16 hot local talents to watch in 2016.

The two product designers, who took part in Ambiente (a major consumer goods trade fair) in Frankfurt in February, are all about adding fun elements to their creations.

The sheep is the latest animal to undergo a Noyberg/Bulka transformation. They’ve also got a giraffe measuring tape (Miss Meter), a horse toothbrush holder (Knight), and an elephant (There’s An Elephant in the Room) electric plug accessory.

The two guys called on a friend, Miki David, a motion graphic designer and graduate of the Holon Institute of Technology, to create an amusing “how to” video for their crowdfunding campaign.

“There are some products that are too expensive to produce commercially without help. Kickstarter is an excellent platform that gives a great solution for the seller (us) to sell directly to the customer,” says Noyberg as to why he and Bulka, 30, who already sell their products in stores, chose a crowdfunding campaign.

The Kickstarter campaign achieved its $10,000 goal and is now going for a stretch goal of $15,000 so the dishwasher-safe, reusable bowls can get sticker add-ons that will turn the SHEEPOPCO sheep into a pirate or one-eyed monster.

And if you’re not a popcorn fan, the bowls can also be used to hold marshmallows, chips or any other snack food to turn you into the best movie host.
