pitchbookTel Aviv University, Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and Hebrew University of Jerusalem produce the most VC-backed entrepreneurs and innovators in Israel, according to PitchBook’s second annual Top Universities for VC-backed Entrepreneurs list.

PitchBook, a research firm for Private Equity and Venture Capital, lists 50 undergraduate schools from around the world to produce the most graduates to launch venture-backed companies over five years ending August 2014.

Stanford University topped the table, with US schools taking seven of the top eight positions.

Tel Aviv University ranked ninth, the Technion 18th, and Hebrew University placed 36th on the list.

The community that graduates can access is one of the most important factors in scoring at the top of the ranking.

“When students are able to tap into a network of similarly driven individuals — students, faculty and alumni — they are given an opportunity to leverage support of that network,” Andy White, research analyst at PitchBook Data, tells Entrepreneur. “It is a perpetual cycle, which is driven by the common connection to one’s alma mater.”
