Keep in mind that laughing is contagious before you click on the link to Gigglers.tv – an online video channel that plays hundreds of video clips of people laughing from around the globe.

With the adage that laughter is the best medicine, a group of seven students at the IDC in Herzliya came up with the new channel to “turn the world into a happier place.”

The students study at the IDC’s Media Innovation Lab — a research space that explores the future of media, technology, and human-computer interaction.

It seems the students and staff at the IDC are happy people: Faculty member, Prof. Tal Ben-Shahar, who taught the most popular course at Harvard University, “The Science of Happiness,” is now in Israel teaching the same course at the IDC.

The science behind Gigglers.tv is quite simple: Watch someone else laugh and share a chuckle yourself. The site has clips of babies laughing, a woman snorting with laughter, and a man almost choking because of laughter.

The Gigglers upload the funniest videos from across the globe, cutting them into 10 second clips.

“We hope that users from around the world will upload and share laughter videos in order to form an international laughter reservoir for everyone to enjoy,” they say on their website.
