Opposition leader Tzipi Livni is one of the 150 most influential women in the world today, according to Newsweek. In honor of International Women’s Day, the American magazine put together a list of powerful women around the world.
In Livni’s short bio, the magazine described her as having a “reputation for an unusual level of integrity and honesty,” and wrote that she is often described as “Mrs. Clean” for her uprightness in politics.
Two other Israelis made the list: Terry Greenblatt, Executive Director and CEO of Urgent Action Fund for Women’s Human Rights and political journalist Rula Jebreal.
Newsweek put Hillary Clinton on its cover, citing her as the world’s most powerful woman. Other remarkable women to make the top 150 included talk show host Oprah Winfrey, Jordanian Queen Rania, political activist Gloria Steinem, human rights activist Aung San Suu Kyi and Iranian-born astronaut Anousheh Ansari.
International Women’s Day is marked on March 8 as a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future.
