The Israeli film, Zero Motivation, won two prizes at the Tribeca Film Festival – the coveted Best Narrative Feature as well as the Nora Ephron prize.

Jurors called first-time Israeli director Talya Lavie’s dark comedy about young women IDF soldiers “the most hilarious film we saw at the festival.”

The movie tells the stories of the women in the unit and how they try to pass time by battling for the top score in Minesweeper while pushing paper in a desolate desert base.

Zero Motivation was the only film to pick up two awards at the festival — each carrying a cash prize of $25,000.

The Tribeca Film Festival lineup included 89 features and 57 short films from more than 40 countries.

“We believe a new powerful voice has emerged,” the judging committee said of Lavie, a graduate of Jerusalem’s Sam Spiegel Film and Television School.
