Israel brought sustainable fashion to this year’s New York Fashion Week with two runway shows from the ultra-stylish and ultra-eco-friendly Israeli design label EcoGir, in a prominent midtown Manhattan location last month.

Both men’s and women’s fashions were on display, with a total of 12 suits shown at two showcases observed by about 30 VIP guests and numerous onlookers on the streets of New York, via large flat screen monitors.

Made from recycled plastic PET bottles, EcoGir‘s sustainable suits make eco-friendly, machine-washable and tumble-dryable fashion look worthy of being shown during New York Fashion Week.

Tim Danser, VP of Marketing for Bagir International, says that “… EcoGir is proud to remind the world that being stylish and eco-friendly is possible. At EcoGir we believe being sustainable is a daily lifestyle. Every day is Earth Day for EcoGir.”

The models, who were dressed in the traditional colors black, tan and gray, as well as tuxedos, were available for Q&A sessions after each show. The audience was encouraged to touch the garments, to make tangible EcoGir’s mission “to create clothes and suits that offer perfect performance backed by an experience of pure comfort.”
