Just days after introducing enormous 40-kilogram pumpkins
to our salad bowls, agriculturists tilling the land in Israel’s Arava Desert have another fun surprise: Heart-shaped and star-shaped cucumbers.
Rami Sadeh, head agriculturist of the Ein Yahav produce company Yofi Shel Yerakot (Beauty of Vegetables), is responsible for this special produce.
The cool cucumbers grow in a particular shape so that when they are sliced they look like hearts and stars. Sadeh says the cucumbers are great for catering parties as well as getting children interested in healthy foods.
The unusual cucumbers are grown throughout the year.
