It took only 90 minutes for Israeli-founded LifeBEAM to reach its Kickstarter funding goal of $100,000 towards commercializing Vi, a first-of-its-kind augmented reality (AI) personal trainer.
Now, with more than a month left to the campaign, the total raised is nearing $500k.
What’s all the buzz about? Vi technology resides in cutting-edge Harman/Kardon earphones and provides real-time coaching based on the user’s own physiology.
Vi contains aerospace-grade biosensors to measure heart rate, heart rate variability, motion, elevation and other parameters; hi-fi sound quality; an ergonomic design; and the ability to learn and grow with each user.
The pre-order price is $199; Vi (pronounced “vee”) eventually will sell for about $249.
“The future of wearables is using AI to personalize our health and fitness in real time, and we created Vi to lead this new frontier,” said Omri Yoffe, CEO and cofounder of LifeBEAM.
“By improving a person’s awareness of their own behaviors, environment, and real-time physiology, Vi provides an inspiring and truly smarter workout experience. We call Vi an ‘Awareable,’ as it’s the first and only wearable with the power to actually be aware of a person’s activity patterns and coach their behavior in real time.”
Vi interprets data to deliver actionable insights such as weight-loss optimization, exhaustion-level management, injury prevention, running technique, stress levels, adaptive training plans and more.
With the Vi mobile app for iOS and Android, users can review their performance and have ongoing communication with Vi through voice or text, and can listen to their personal music or streaming services while exercising. LifeBEAM’s founders hope these features will help users overcome the “workout dropout” pitfall.
In March, LifeBEAM raised $16 million in Series A funding. The company is based in New York City, with R&D centers in Tel Aviv, Los Angeles and Asia.
