Israel’s water technology exports double over last three years.

The recession may be gripping Israel’s economy, but water technology exports are growing rapidly according to the Israel Export and International Cooperation Institute. In 2008, water technology exports totaled $1.4 billion, according to the institute, double the amount in 2005.

Today, according to the institute, there are 250 Israeli companies in the water technology sector, ranging from water management systems, to irrigation, desalination, water recycling and purification. Of these 200 export their products to more than 100 countries worldwide, while some 50 companies in the field are defined as start-ups.

Israel is now an internationally acknowledged leader in water solutions, and continues to experience growing demand. Israel is ranked first in the world for recycling water in agriculture.
