Israel’s Solbar offers a new soy filled for chocolatesIsraeli company Solbar Industries is to introduce a new soy filler for praline chocolate centers at the upcoming Natural Foods Expo, which will be held from March 5-8 in Anaheim.
Unlike traditional textured soy flours, the new Bontex steam-textured soy protein has none of the strong soy off-flavors which have given soy products a bad name in the past. The company uses a unique proprietary process that removes volatile flavors and preserves the essential nutritional values of the soy protein. This can then be cut and sieved into different sizes and shapes.
Solbar, which is based in Ashdod, will display the first application for Bontex as a center for chocolates, replacing nuts, at the show. “We very much believe in Bontex, as a key ingredient for bringing consumers both excellent flavor and mouth feel, as well as important nutritional properties. We think that the advantages of Bontex lie in its organoleptic properties, health benefits and cost-savings,” says David Kraus, global applications manager of Solbar.
